For investors, this means your staked ETH is put to work in multiple places. You receive your base staking rewards from the Ethereum network. Additional rewards also come from the project you are helping to secure.

To participate, you can deposit your assets directly, or you can use a liquid staking token. The liquid restaking platforms take this process further. They accept your tokens, restake them automatically, and give you a new token in return. This new token represents your claim on the underlying assets and the accumulated rewards.

It sounds like a perfect setup. You get your staking yield, your restaking yield, and a token you can still trade. However, this setup creates a complex chain of dependencies. If one link in this chain breaks, the consequences can cascade through your entire portfolio.

Understanding the Ethereum restaking risks is vital before you lock up your funds. The first major hazard involves slashing. When you stake Ethereum, you can lose a portion of your funds if your validator acts maliciously or goes offline. With restaking, your assets are securing multiple external networks at the same time.

Understand the withdrawal terms. Know exactly how long it takes to get your ETH back if you decide to exit. Do not assume you can withdraw your funds instantly during a market panic.

The promise of higher yields is always tempting, but it always comes with higher stakes.
